Academic Year For permission to work in Ireland non-EU students must attend a course of at least one year’s duration (inclusive of at least 25 weeks of study) and the course must appear on the National Qualification Authority of Ireland’s (NQAI) register of approved programmes for access to employment. iStudy International has developed its Academic Year programme to allow students to study for periods of 25 weeks or more. Students can obtain a one year visa for any programme containing a minimum of 25 weeks of study. Students should be 18 years or more to join the programme.
Holidays: Students will be given a study/holiday plan with a minimum of 25 weeks of study divided into terms.
Early termination of programme: If a student wishes to complete 25 weeks of study in less than 1 year this can be arranged at the student’s request. iStudy International will inform the Immigration Bureau thus shortening the student’s original visa. While every effort will be made to allow the student to complete the 25 weeks of study in a shorter period, no compensation, monetary or otherwise, will be offered. Also, students may not take double-shifts (30 hours per week) to complete the programme earlier than planned.
Examination: In accordance with immigration regulations all students must complete an official examination during their programme. An examination deposit of Euro 60 will be included in the student’s invoice. At the school, when students register for an examination such as FCE, CAE or IELTS, they will have to pay the balance of the examination fee (exams can cost from Euro 70 – 170).
Attendance: It is obligatory for students are to maintain an 85% attendance at all times.

On arrival, AY students are placed into afternoon classes.
After 4 weeks, if the AY student wishes to move to the morning class they may put in a request to do so. This request is subject to availability at that time, and there is no guarantee that this request will be granted.
The student cannot study in morning classes during high season (June to Sept. inclusive). During this period, students may study in the afternoon or take a holiday.
If having moved to the morning class the student decides to return to the afternoon class, they may do so, but only after having completed 4 weeks in the morning class, and placement back into the afternoon remains subject to availability.
If an AY student wishes to become an AYP student, then they may do so by paying the difference in fees between the two programmes for the remaining number of weeks of their programme. |
On arrival AYP students are placed into morning classes.
After 4 weeks, if the AYP student wishes to move to the afternoon class, they may put in a request to do so. This request is subject to availability at that time and there is no guarantee that this request will be granted. No refund can be given for this change.
The student may continue to study in the morning class during high season (June – Sept. inclusive).
If, having moved to the afternoon class, the student decides to return to the morning class, they may do so, but only after having completed 4 weeks in the afternoon class. The place in the morning class is guaranteed.
If an AYP student wishes to become an AY student, they may do so as described above, but there is no compensation or refund, monetary or otherwise. |
